Abstract

This work presents an overview of an automotive control, which is the means by which different systems and subsystems in an automobile is controlled to achieve a coordinated operation of the vehicle. Special emphasis was made on electronic control in automotive, which is carried out by an Electronic Control Unit (ECU). There are many types of ECUs in a modern automobile, these ECUs control different systems while still interact with each other. ECUs are made up different basic functional parts, these parts include; sensors, actuators, analogue-digital converters, microcontrollers, communication links to other ECUs, a firmware etc. These parts come together to make the control of automobile efficient electronically.
