Abstract

Optimum Power Flow (OPF) studies to minimize either the power distribution losses and the cost of power drawn from the substation, without affecting on the voltage regulation. This paper discusses the concept of the continuation Gauss-Seidel method to be used with load flow analysis control for stability of large power systems. This method preserves load flow equations and hence can achieve better accuracy, which is verified by the case studies of an IEEE-5 busses system.
