Abstract

The pedal powered hacksaw machine which means operated by human effort which means by pedaling which can be used for industrial applications and household needs in which no specific input energy or power is needed. The pedaling plays a key role in creating energy which can be further transferred; this machine consists of a simple mechanism operated with chain and sprocket gear arrangement. In the mechanism, pedal is connected with the connecting rod for the process of cutting wooden blocks and poly vinyl chloride (PVC) materials. Performance testing was carried out on the machine by cutting PVC pipes with different diameters. The time taken in cutting PVC pipe with three different diameters was recorded. Another performance testing was carried out on the machine by cutting wood. The time taken in cutting of wood was recorded
