Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack is a major threat in today's world. Attackers hide their identity by spoofing and defending. An idea of an enhanced packet marking and trace back algorithm for ip traceback to identify an attacker that facilitates the traceback of the spoofed packet to its origin. Numerous ip traceback techniques exist, but they have limitations like the number of packets required or storage computational overheads incurred at routers. The technique proposed reduces computational time. The efficacy of the proposed scheme is compared to that of other single-packet traceback schemes in terms of computational time, storage, accuracy.
